Rokid Announces Glasses 2 and Rokid Colour Smart Glasses
Rokid unveiled two distinct smart glasses models during its Rokid Jungle event on 27 October. The company announced the monochrome Rokid Glasses 2 and a new full-colour model, Rokid Colour. The two devices serve different hardware and software needs. The Glasses 2 serves as a hardware update to the company’s existing line. The Rokid Colour introduces a new display system that supports rich graphical interfaces.
The Rokid Glasses 2 retains the single green microLED waveguide display from the previous generation. The screen offers a 480 by 380 resolution, a 25-degree field of view, and 1,500 nits of brightness. The primary hardware changes involve the camera and audio systems. The device features a 12-megapixel sensor that can record video at 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. It also supports 2K and 1080p recording at 60 frames per second. The manufacturer claims the device includes a “super night video” algorithm, which it promotes as an industry first, but independent testing has not verified it.
Audio capabilities have been updated to support Dolby Audio. The frame houses four omnidirectional microphones and a bone-conduction microphone engineered to maintain acoustic clarity in windy environments. The internal hardware utilises a Snapdragon AR1+ processor alongside a BES2800BP co-processor. The device supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. Memory and storage remain unchanged from the previous model at 2 gigabytes and 32 gigabytes, respectively. Battery capacity increased by about 25 per cent to 263 milliampere-hours. Users can attach an optional accessory, the Power Capsule 2, to recharge the device up to six times. The frame includes temples that open 22 per cent wider than the original model. The company also claims the new lenses reduce reflectivity by 70 per cent, though this figure reflects internal design metrics rather than independent measurements.
The device is marketed primarily for productivity tasks such as language translation and meeting transcription. The software supports desktop AI platforms, including Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes, Qoder, WorkBuddy, and OpenCode. This builds upon existing native support for Gemini, ChatGPT, Qwen, and DeepSeek. Pre-orders in China opened on 27 October, with shipments scheduled for 11 November 2026. The black model costs 3,699 Chinese yuan, while the tortoiseshell variant costs 3,849 Chinese yuan.
The Rokid Colour represents a departure from the monochrome series. It incorporates a custom 0.16-cubic-centimetre full-colour microLED optical engine. The display system is rated for 167% sRGB gamut volume and 100% sRGB coverage. The entire device weighs 55 grams.
Rokid positions the 55-gram device as a direct competitor to Meta’s existing display glasses. However, independent testing comparing the two products has not yet been conducted. No verified side-by-side results exist for display brightness, field of view, software maturity, or social acceptability between the Rokid Colour and Meta’s display glasses.
Rokid Colour relies on temple touch controls, voice commands, eye tracking, and connections to smartwatches or smartbands. The company also announced a separate gesture controller called the Rokid Ring, priced at 1,699 Chinese yuan. Several core specifications for the Rokid Colour remain undisclosed. The manufacturer has not provided information regarding the processor, camera sensor, battery capacity, or battery life. The Rokid Colour is currently targeted for an April 2027 release in China. The company noted that this timeline depends on completing the software ecosystem required to drive the full-colour graphical interface.
Pricing details for the Rokid Colour currently vary across reporting outlets. Wareable lists the price points at 4,999 Chinese yuan and 5,499 Chinese yuan, attributing the difference to 2-gigabyte and 4-gigabyte memory configurations. Conversely, The Gadgeteer attributes the higher cost exclusively to the tortoiseshell frame finish rather than increased memory. Available reporting does not definitively resolve whether the frame finish, memory capacity, or a combination of both drives the price gap.
Rokid has had a historical market visibility before this launch. A report published six months ago cited a Shangpu Group tracking window covering November 2024 through October 2025. That period placed Rokid ahead of competitors in global unit sales of artificial intelligence glasses with a display. Looking ahead, Rokid plans to showcase global versions of both the Glasses 2 and the Rokid Colour at CES 2027. The company has not established an international retail release date or pricing structure for markets outside of China.
